So, a fellow disc jockey joined a conversation about the Regina Folk Festival which is on this weekend in the Queen City.  He talked about a few of the acts that he wouldn't put in the folk music category.  I understand.  Tegan and Sara are pop singers.  Blake Berglund and Marty Stuart are country guys.

But then, I shared my story about the late Larry Ramos, the long time front man for The Association.  I met Larry when he and the boys were playing the Mae Wilson Theatre several years ago.  I was to introduce them as CHAB was the presenting radio station.

Larry wanted me to rehearse my intro for him but, before I did, he said "Just don't call us a sunshine pop band."  I was so glad he told me because that's exactly what I was about to do.

I asked, "Why not?"

Larry said "Because we hate that.  What is sunshine pop?"

I said "Well, it's a genre...it's a category and I think it fits."  I then asked, "How DO you describe your style?"

And Larry said, "It's just music, man.  It's just music."
