Donna May Friars

November 15, 1956 – May 2, 2013

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Donna on May 2, 2013 after a series of strokes at the age of 56. She was born in Winnipeg, MB and raised in Mortlach, SK. Donna had many interests in her life from selling insurance to cooking in restaurants but her main love was cooking. Her love of life was abruptly interrupted by a major stroke at age 49, which rendered her unable to talk or walk. Through the next few years she endured many hardships as her lack of communication and immobility frustrated her deeply as did the fact she could not care for herself. On April 24 she encountered another major stroke with mild strokes that followed. You may now rest peacefully. We will miss your wit and laughter but know we will always love you. Donna is predeceased by her mother Gail Smith (2010) and her natural father Scott Vincent (2012), both maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her sons David (Stephanie) Der and Lou Itcush all from Saskatoon; sister Carol (Robert) Kohl; stepfather Charlie Smith all from Mortlach; stepmother Elsie Burback-Vincent from High River, AB; nephew Dwayne (Michelle) Downton and their son, Micah of Regina, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or the Moose Jaw Humane Society. In living memory of, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.   Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).  693-4644
