Saying it's a collection of complicated issues, the Saskatchewan government is now openly admitting they will miss their goal of eliminating emergency room wait times in the province by 2017.

The government came under fire this week when the opposition NDP noticed the silent admission in a ministry report. Party Leader Cam Broten said the admission should have been more public and up front.

While Health Minister Dustin Duncan says they will not make their target... they will continue to work on significantly reducing wait times in ERs.

The fall sitting of the Legislature began Tuesday, with the spectre of the next provincial election in April looming large for the SaskParty government and opposition NDP.

Meanwhile, the Five Hills Health Region says they are currently meeting all benchmarks when it comes to ER and surgical wait times.
