Although they didn’t pick up any medals, members of Gymtastiks of Moose Jaw had strong performances at the Saskatchewan Winter Games.

Amara Cameron, Katelyn Sauer, Saige Buchanan and Jaylin Bevan joined Swift Current’s Kayden Meyer to compete as Team Southwest. The five girls qualified through a trials competition back in November.

They were coached by Moose Jaw’s Lacey Smith and Swift Current’s Chantel Meyer.

“They did really well. They showed up and they did their routines like they do in practice. That’s all that you can ask is that they do their best,” said Gymtastiks’ Jamie Olmstead, who attended the event as a judge.

In the team event, the girls finished seventh overall.

Buchanan finished 10th all-around and made the finals in the uneven bars and vault. She finished sixth in the uneven bars and seventh in the vault.

Katelyn Sauer also made it to the vault finals and ended up finishing in eighth.

The Saskatchewan Winter Games wraps up this weekend in Regina.
