Some interesting numbers have been released by the Five Hills Health Region as it relates to surgical wait times. Out of the 843 surgeries performed between July 1st and September 30th, about 36 per cent of them were completed within three months of the patient being placed on the wait list. 75 per cent of all surgeries were completed within their target time frame.

Five Hills Health Region CEO Cheryl Craig says streamlining their operating system and making the whole process more efficient will be key to making wait times even shorter, something the Saskatchewan Party Government focused on in their Fall Sitting Throne Speech.

"There will be many, many things looked at provincially in terms of how we can improve access for patients to surgery in a more timely way but certainly that is one of the areas." Craig is very pleased with the numbers that are being reported but says there is always room for improvement.
