Health Canada announced Friday morning that they have approved a fourth vaccine, this time from Johnson and Johnson.  This is the first and only vaccine purchased by Canada that requires just one dose.

Canada has purchased 10 million doses and has the option to buy another 28 million if needed.

The vaccine will be used for adults over the age of 18, and it is currently being tested to see if it is safe for children. The vaccine was shown to be 66 per cent effective at preventing moderate to severe illness, and 85 per cent effective at preventing the most serious health issues.

The government isn't expecting any doses to arrive in Canada until at least April, and all 10 million should be here by the end of September.
