The Highway to Heroes Car Show will be happening on Saturday, July 20 at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds.

Joyce Walter, chairman of the Highway to Heroes Car Show, said that the gates open for show cars at 8:30, with spectators able to arrive starting at 10 a.m.

“Pre-registration is not required. We just welcome anybody who has a vehicle of interest – that could be a car, a truck, a motorcycle, or some sort of a recreational vehicle.”

She said military personnel in uniform get free admission in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for those ages 6-12, and free for anyone 5 or younger.

“Rod Dignean is going to have his full Museum of Military Memorabilia,” added Walter. “He had a small display here last year, and this year we’re going to take up one side of the Convention Centre on the Exhibition Grounds, where he will have a full display.”

Dignean will be available to answer questions about his collection. Also on display will be equipment from the Saskatchewan Dragoons.

Walter said local rock band Runaway Train will be performing two shows during the car show. “They’ve performed quite a few places in the city, and they’ve agreed to be part of our entertainment.”

There will be over 100 volunteers helping this year, including those from the cadets and 15 Wing.

Cars can win prizes in a number of categories, including best in show, modern and antique cars, modern and antique trucks, motorcycles, and judge’s choice.

Proceeds raised through the car show go to charities that support military families, veteran organizations, and cadets.

The show saw approximately 160 vehicles last year.
