A large number of Canadians are feeling a lot more than the usual holiday stress this year.

A new Sun Life Financial survey finds over a-third of Canadian adults are more stressed about their personal finances than they were at this time last year. Here in the prairies, that number is even slightly higher at about 38 percent.

Sun Life Financial senior vice-president Kevin Strain says far fewer people are more stressed about the economy, "Most people's concerns are focused on their own personal financial situation."

Strain says young adults are feeling it the most, "In fact more than half of those surveyed between the ages of 18-and-34 say they are more stressed this year over their finances than they were last year and thirty percent in that age group are more stressed about their jobs."

The Ipsos survey, taken annually just before the holidays, also finds more women than men are feeling increased stress about their finances and their job situation.
