There are two spots open on the Moose Jaw Humane Society’s board of directors after a new board was elected at their annual general meeting on Thursday night.

Executive Director Dana Haukaas says there was a good turnout for the meeting.

“We had what I would say is our usual turnout. We did elect the board again. Everybody that sat on our board last year, it's the same one minus one person who was not able to let her name stand,” she said.

Anyone interested can email outreach@mjhs.ca and that email will be sent on to the board of directors.

Questions arose about how the shelter adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“So far COVID has not really had a huge impact on the shelter. Our adoptions are still doing really well and we are still receiving donations,” Haukaas said.

She added that SARCAN recycling donations were up during the pandemic.

An update was also given about future events and fundraisers including the radiothon. While it is unknown as fall time looks like, they are hopeful it will still go ahead.
