They went through it again.  They re-visited that tragic day and the sadness that followed.  They had to.  It was necessary.

The Humboldt Broncos - the survivors, the first responders, families, staff and supporters and the hundreds of people across the country with special connections to those involved - we turned a page last night.

The Broncos opened up another SJHL season with a game against their rival, the Nipawin Hawks - the team they were on their way to play early last spring when their team bus collided with a semi and 16 people died.

I watched some of the coverage on television.  I saw the survivors weeping.  I saw fans wiping away the tears.  I saw some passionate junior hockey players doing what they love to do.

You know, when you talking about healing, in this case, you're talking about alleviating the pain - the anguish.  And, I wonder if the families of those who died will ever heal.

Last night we turned the page to a new season.  This morning, the families and the survivors simply turn the page to a new day.  It's all they can do.
