Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman and Minnesota Wild draft pick Daemon Hunt has temporarily joined the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Virden Oil Capitals.

Hunt, from nearby Brandon, will join the team until Dec. 20 where he will be coached by his former U18 coach Tyson Ramsey.

Ramsey said in a release on the Oil Capitals website: “Pretty exciting for us, for our guys and for us as an organization, and certainly happy to have Daemon here. He’s played with a couple of our players, and he’s a local guy here, so he fits into our group right away."

Hunt scored 15 assists in 28 games last season for the Warriors and was drafted 65th overall in the third round of the NHL entry draft earlier this month.

He is expected to make his season debut with the Oil Capitals Friday night.
