The Moose Jaw Warriors put last weekend behind them in a hurry on Friday night in Regina.

Dryden Hunt picked up his first hat trick in a Warrior uniform as he burnt his old team in a 6-1 win over the Pats at the Brandt Centre, snapping their two-game losing skid.

The Warriors got contributions from throughout the lineup with Brayden Point and Nikita Popugaev posting two assists in the win, while Brett Howden and Jiri Smejkal scored the other goals for the Warriors.

Goalie Zach Sawchenko was stellar in between the pipes for the Warriors as well, making 31 saves, including two big ones on breakaways early in the second period.

The pace was fast and back-and-forth early in the first period, but a goal 7:01 into the frame by Sam Steel gave the Pats the momentum and an early lead.

Moose Jaw found a spark from Point as he made a nice move around Steel and then set up Hunt for his ninth of the season.

Smejkal gave the Warriors a lead late in the first period when he banged home a rebound off the end wall with 23 seconds to go in the frame.

The Warriors rode the momentum from that goal into the second period and Howden added to the lead just over five minutes into the frame when he found a rebound in the blue paint for a 3-1 Moose Jaw lead.

The pressure for Moose Jaw continued after that as they fired 20 shots in total on Daniel Wapple in the middle frame and were outshooting Regina 35-18 after two.

Heading into the third period, it was Hunt that put the nail in the coffin of his former team, scoring two goals 3:31 apart in the first seven minutes of the frame to put Moose Jaw in front 5-1.

The Tribe kept the pressure up from there and finished off the win to open up their three-in-three weekend.

After getting out shot badly in their two losses last weekend, the Warriors were able to fire 47 shots on the Regina net in the win.

Both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play.

The Warriors will have a rematch with the Pats on Saturday afternoon, 2:00pm at Mosaic Place.  Western Nissan Warriors Hockey hits the air on Country 100 with the Pre-Game Show at 1:40pm.
