Hunter, Rose

Passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Pioneer’s Lodge in Moose Jaw. Rose at the age of 88 was predeceased by her beloved husband Phillip “Ace” in 1980, and her brothers William “Billy” and George Brewin. Loving mother of Terry (Debbie), cherished grandmother of Samantha, Amanda and Brian, as well as her step-grandchildren Dan, Terri, Chris and Cindy. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, and by her numerous friends. Rose was born on June 6, 1924 in Moose Jaw, and was raised on the family farm east of Mortlach. She grew up attending school in Mortlach, and later attended business college. After finishing her formal education, she began working at Allied Lumber in Moose Jaw, but went on to work at the Imperial Bank of Commerce. It was during her employment at the bank that she met the love of her life, Phillip, a Moose Jaw Police Officer. Following her marriage to Phillip, she began working in management for Sears, where she served for 35 years and retired. After 2 years of retirement, she resumed her employment with Sears working in the credit department, fully retiring in the mid 80’s. During her retirement years she began teaching cooking, knitting and crocheting, and judging crafts at community fairs. She was a faithful and devoted lifetime member of the Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge #4. She loved her independence, and getting together with friends to play cards, sometimes until the wee hours of the morning, much to the chagrin of her son Terry. She led a very fulfilling and active life until she became ill in January 2012. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkview Funeral Chapel. Following the service, Rose will be laid to rest at Rosedale Cemetery. Blair & Kelly Scott, Funeral Directors. (306) 694-5500.
