The province is reminding residents that ALL ice fishing shelters south of Highway 16 - which runs east and west from Saskatoon - must be removed by March 15.

Shelters north of Highway 16 can stay in place until March 31.

Ice shelters that are left will inevitably fall through the ice, creating a danger to boaters, water skiers, and others enjoying the lake. All shelters must be moved to a location where they can be loaded and moved to the owner's residence or property. Litter must also be removed.

If shelters are not removed, owners may be prosecuted and the structure and contents may be moved off the ice and confiscated.

You're encouraged to be careful on the ice as well, with the warm weather creating slush and unsafe conditions.
