Sean and Tamara Trefiak made a submission to the KRAFT Hockeyville Contest, along with many others in the the community, to have a chance to win the grand prize.

It's down to two finalists with Ituna representing the West and O'Leary, PEI representing the East. This is the first time a community in Saskatchewan has made it this far in the competition, with the potential of winning it all.

Tamara's family is from Ituna and though she lived in Moose Jaw for many years, she moved back to the community 2 years ago to start a new chapter of her life with her husband.

Tarama said their rink is getting older and in need of repairs, so the grand prize of receiving $100,000 in arena upgrades and the chance to host a preseason NHL game couldn't have come at a better time.

"Our rink was built in 1962 and it's on it's last legs," explained Tamara. "We're really fortunate... even though Ituna is really small it seems that everybody knows somebody from Ituna, we've been reaching out on social media just to try and get the word out there."

She added that their rink is more than just a place to put on your skates, it's a place to connect with friends and neighbors.

"Everybody in the grocery store talks on Monday morning about what happened over the weekends at the hockey games. It's where kids gather, they get to skate around... it's just a really great place to gather and celebrate our town."

Tamara said they never could have imagined how much support they have received in this competition and certainly never expected to make it to the final 2, especially with the opposition having a much larger population then their 600 person town.

"It means the world (to us), without everybody's support we couldn't of made this happen. It's not just one or two people, it's a whole community coming together."

Tamra said a person can vote as many times as they would like and they're relying on Saskatchewan to help them take the number one spot.
