Starting July 13, the Festival of Words will be making its way back to the friendly city with an extended run time, and all happening virtually.

The festival typically runs for 3 days, but this year has been extended to run from July 13-19.

One of this year's virtual guests will be Jay Ingram; author, broadcaster, member of the Order of Canada, and longtime host of Daily Planet on Discovery Channel.

Ingram will be discussing his most recent book, Volume 4 of the 'Science of Why' series. He says that at first, he wasn't overly enthused about the idea of writing a question and answer book, but after doing some research, he started to learn some things himself which he says was quite fascinating.

"It turns out that different cultures around the world and at different times in history have not had words for colours that we have words for in English today. So the simple question 'why is the sky blue?' takes this detour. You can take this simple question and make it really interesting. That's what I've really enjoyed about writing these question and answer books."

While Ingram and all other guests will be attending the festival virtually, he said himself, and all other authors were looking forward to checking out our city.

"All of us who were invited to the festival are as disappointed that we're not able to come to Moose Jaw as people are disappointed in not having us there, but maybe another time!"

Ingram will be a part of the Readception on Monday at 7 pm and will be interviewed live at 7 pm on Wednesday.
