Long time city councillor Jim Carr is looking for a promotion at City Hall as he enters the mayoral race in Moose Jaw.

He says his 15 years as a city councillor and 17 years with the municipal planning commission will make him the better mayor.

We've finally got a race when it comes to the mayoral election in Moose Jaw as current councillor Jim Carr has filed his paperwork. Carr is now battling with Dale McBain for the top seat at City Hall. "I served on council for 6 years with Dale, he's a likable enough individual but I don't think he's the right man for the job at this time. I think the difference is that I have a little more experience and I've got the business background. He's been a teacher all of his life, not that there's anything wrong with teachers its just that you have a different attitude towards how you look at things and whether Dale can switch or not, I don't know."

Carr is already talking about how to improve Moose Jaw if elected and would like to start with the help of our kids. "I would like to bring forward the idea of a mayor's task force for youth. I would like to get a youth committee of 13 to 19 year olds formed that sit down with myself and some other individuals and well see what we can do to make this city better for our youth."

So far Carr and McBain are the only candidates for mayor.
