Staying the same is better than going down.

The April job numbers in Saskatchewan show that there were 560,100 people working, which is exactly how many were working last year this time.

Officials are taking this as good news, especially in wake of low resource prices.

And what's even better is that there were gains in trade by almost 6000, professional, scientific, and technical services were up 5,000, and manufacturing up by over 3,000.

The unemployment rate for the province is at 6.2% which is still below the national average of 6.5%.

Also of note, the youth unemployment rate in Saskatchewan is the second lowest in Canada at 10.4%.  The national average is 11.7%

Another encouraging sign was that off-reserve Aboriginal employment was up 4,000 for 10 consecutive months increases, and Aboriginal youth employment was up by 2.5% for 12 consecutive months.
