Richard “Bert” Olmstead was named Moose Jaw’s Notoriously Good Neighbour for June after being nominated by his neighbour of almost 30 years, Darrell Babcock.

“I can’t thank Bert enough for all he does for us and others in the neighbourhood,” said Babcock. “When our kids were little, he used to fix their bikes and has always been willing to lend a hand when needed. Although he’s in his 80s, he shovels my sidewalks and snow blows my driveway when I’m at work and even when I’m home.”

Notoriously Good Neighbours are announced monthly by the City of Moose Jaw and the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce to celebrate residents who make their neighbourhoods better places to live through their efforts.

If you’d like to recognize your neighbour who mows lawns, shares produce from their gardens, or just generally goes out of their way to lend a helping hand, you can submit your nomination under “Report an Issue” on the City of Moose Jaw’s website or app.
