BARBER, KELLY JOSEPH

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kelly Joseph Barber. Born September 2nd, 1971 in Thompson, Manitoba and died in Vancouver, B.C, on January 7th, 2023. Left to mourn are his dad Garry (Joanne) Barber, sisters Lindsey Ross and family, Karlie Neal and family. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also left to mourn are Pam, Jillian, and Marg Hunt. A very close friend and walking buddy Andrew Walace, of Edmonton will mourn Kelly also.

Kelly grew up mostly in the Moose Jaw area. He attended King George and Central High School. Kelly loved Buffalo Pound Lake – the water, motor biking, and outdoor family times together and loved the farms and family times that it brought. Life took Kelly out west to live.

People who knew Kelly say that he was such a generous spirit and soul. He was always polite, respectful, and so kind to all he encountered and who were less fortunate than him. He had a sense of humour, got excited about events, and always had a smile on his face. He was easy to work with and talk to. Kelly had a strong religious faith that grounded him like nothing else. He also volunteered at a mission for years, giving time and encouragement to all those in need. Kelly’s weekly phone calls home and conversations with his dad will be deeply missed, as well as the yearly fall visit in Vancouver between father and son.

A private family service will be held later in the spring.
