Students, staff and representatives from Creative Kids all gathered at Dance Images by B.J. Monday evening for a cheque presentation.

Dancers from their studio held their annual dance-a-thon fundraiser recently, called Kids Helping Kids, where they collect donations to give to Creative Kids.

A group of graduating dancers organize the event each year, where children of all ages are able to participate in a day full of dancing, activities and fun. The instructors at the studio help the students throughout the day and Office Manager, Shelly Firth, donates her time and counts all the proceeds that are gathered throughout the fundraiser.

"We raised $12,300 for Creative Kids and in the past four years we've raised over $60,000 just from our studios families and the support of the community," said Owner and Instructor for the dance studio, Barb Jackman.

She noted that not only is it a positive experience for the students at the studio, but they also learn valuable lessons.

"I think it is important for them as young people and just as a community to make sure we are always grateful for the privileges that we have and that we are always willing to pay it forward. That just makes for good people and good people for our community," said Jackman.

David Millar, founding chair person for Creative Kids and his wife accepted the cheque and expressed their admiration for the dance studios continued support over the last few years.

Creative Kids is an organization that helps families who need financial assistance to sign their child up for arts programs. And thanks to donations like the one from the Kids Helping Kids fundraiser, Creative Kids has helped over 6,000 children in over 200 communities across Saskatchewan.
