"The mayor seat needs a strong leader, and that's where I feel I can help out."

Kim Robinson was elected to City Council last year and is not wasting any time when it comes to running for lead.

Robinson says Moose Jaw City council has an orientation for new members, helping them get familiar with the protocols.

"Forging friendships with the other councilors has been good and I feel that we have some really good administrators," says Robinson.

He says being a part of the meetings and being on the inside will help in his campaign for mayor.

Robinson's main campaign point is 'Invest In Moose Jaw.'

"We have a very large reserve fund, around $110 million in investments, we mostly take that money from our investments and put that interest-only back into our budget, I think there are so many other things we could do," says Robinson.

One example he gave was investing in the Moose Jaw Trolley Company.

"Excellent tourism item, but the trolley is getting older and could use some refurbishing. Not to take any business from local banks, perhaps offer them the opportunity, but if that doesn't work out we could loan the money from the reserve fund."

Robinson also said investing in Moose Jaw would help lift marginalized members of the community.

"I feel addiction and poverty are huge contributors to crime in our city so I'd like to see us all invest in better," says Robinson.

Leadership was a big topic for Robinson, he says one of his strengths is instilling vision.

"I have a vision for the city that I think I can spread throughout, and if we can get that momentum as a municipality, I think we could see some big things happen."

He touched on the rejuvenation of Crescent Park and showing off Wakamow park.

Robinson also says we need a solution for our landfills and instead of creating another one he would look at ways to better the facility that we already have.
