For those looking to learn the sport of speed skating or wanting to hone their skills leading up to the start of the season, you’re in luck!

The Kinsmen Moose Jaw Speed Skating Club is hosting a tri-speed skating event on Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 at the Kinsmen Sportsplex.

“The kids would be able to try speed skating, they would get the skates, and they would have ice time with people that would help them figure out how to skate,” says Kinsmen Moose Jaw Speed Skating Club president, Marie Fish. “Just to get to know and be introduced to speed skating.”

Fish adds that the overall goal is for these kids or adults to become interested in the sport and decide to join the club this year.

Each day the event will start at 3:00 p.m. and it is free of charge for those registering.

As the speed skating season is coming, Fish says there’s a lot of excitement in the air.

“I love speed skating. My excitement is getting to watch kids from the age of 3, 4, or 5 start skating and see how they build, grow, and race right up to the level where we have two kids from Moose Jaw skating at the oval skating at a high level. It’s the growth and meeting new parents.”

Those interested in registering for the event or looking for more information can check out the club's website.
