With the annual Santa Claus Parade and Lights On Ceremony this weekend, the Holiday season is officially underway in the City of Moose Jaw. Hundreds of people turned out for the parade on Saturday and the official Lights On ceremony that followed.

With the nice weather on the weekend, many took advantage of the warmer weather to put up some Christmas decorations of their own. But have you put any thought into how much those lights add to your power bill?

If you are looking for some new lights to put up this year, consider LEDs. SaskPower's Rebecca Fiissel says they use 90 percent less energy then incandescents and also last about 10 times longer.

"They are really great alternatives. You can still have the holiday feeling, you can still have the colours and the varieties so I encourage residents to go out and have a look around."
