Moose Jaw' Roger Anholt and Rocky Nickel received national honors from Baseball Canada.

 

Baseball Canada announced honors to two local men.

Long time Moose Jaw Cardinals coach Roger Anholt was named Coach of the Year while umpire Rocky Nickel was named Official of the Year. 

Anholt has been coaching baseball for over 30 years, and has been coaching midget baseball in Moose Jaw since 1990, winning provincial titles in 1997 and 2000.

Anholt also guided Team Saskatchewan to a silver medal in 1993 and captured a gold medal in 1194 at the Nation Championships.  He's coached Team Sask. at the Baseball Canada Cup since 2005, leading his teams to two fourth place finished and one 5th place finish, placing Saskatchewan in the elite pool at the Canada Cup. 

Rocky Nickel has served on the Saskatchewan Baseball Association's Umpire Committee for many years, and is also the Assistant Supervisor of Umpires for Baseball Canada.  Nickel also instructs local clinics, and mentors young officials.
