For the first time since March 5th, and just the third time since February 14th, the Saskatchewan government reported 200 new cases of COVID-19 in their daily update. Many of the new cases were reported in the two major cities, Regina and Saskatoon. In addition to the 200 new cases, there were 108 recoveries reported.

In addition to the new cases three more deaths linked to the virus were reported. Two of the deaths were in the Far North East zone – a person in the 60-69 age group and a person in the 80+ age group – and one was reported in the North Central zone – someone in the 30-39 age group. To date, there have now been 417 deaths connected to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

Of the new cases reported, 91 were in the Regina zone and 29 were in the Saskatoon zone. Another 18 cases were reported in the South East zone, 14 in the North Central zone, 12 in the Central East and South Central zones, nine in the North West zone, six in the Far North West zone, five in the North East zone, and two in the Far North East and Central West zones. Another six cases are pending residence information.

There are now 1,434 active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. The seven-day average for new cases is currently at 134.

There were no new confirmed cases of variants of concern. There are 156 confirmed cases of variants of concern in Saskatchewan. The Regina zone accounts for 141 of those. There are also 590 presumptive variant of concern cases, with 504 in Regina, 38 in the South Central zone, 28 in the South East zone, 13 in Saskatoon, six in the Central East zone and one in the Far North East zone.

Across the province, there are 135 people who are in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19. Of those, 27 are in intensive care.

Friday saw the highest single day total for vaccine delivery in Saskatchewan with 8,766 doses administered across the province. Regina saw 2,860 doses delivered, followed by 1,597 in the South East. Another 1111 doses were administered in Saskatoon, 1008 administered in the Central East, 775 in Central West, 667 in South Central, 281 in Far North East, 220 in South West, 148 in Far North West, 53 in North East, 24 in North Central, 12 in North West and 10 in Far North Central.

Those who are 67 and older are encouraged to book their COVID-19 vaccination appointments online or by phone. As of Friday, 89,338 appointments had been booked via the new booking system.
