Mayor Fraser Tolmie expressed his satisfaction after the Government of Saskatchewan announced plans to re-open the province amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tolmie said, while he likes what he heard from Premier Scott Moe, it isn’t a time to become complacent.

“I’m impressed, I’d have to say, with the way our province has handled this and we agree with the slow, methodical approach to easing restrictions,” Tolmie said.

“So far we have been very, very successful and so we are going to be maintaining under the provincial jurisdiction, which we have to abide by, with the limitation that is imposed on us.”

The city did send out a press release shortly after the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan was announced, reiterating the city facilities will stay closed.

City Manager Jim Puffalt described how city hall employees are going to work.

“What we are trying to maintain is a safe work zone, so the fewer people in the building the better. We have about 15 per cent of our administration staff are working from home on a rotational basis,” Puffalt said.

Residents are encouraged to download the city’s Request for Service app if there are any questions are concerns in regards to the city’s operations during the COVID-19 outbreak.
