For local artists, the past year has definitely had its ups and downs.

Native Moose Javian and Juno nominated musician Megan Nash says that the pandemic took away a lot of opportunities but also opened her up to new possibilities.

"Singing is such a physical thing and at the beginning of the pandemic, I was too anxious to even sing. But as I started to get back into it, I've found that I have more time to put extra care into my songs."

In previous years, Nash would often be trying to write and polish up new songs in the midst of a busy tour schedule. Now she says her focus can be less divided.

"I was wearing a lot of hats and I always found that a little difficult. So it's been a little bit of a gift. I've been given this extra time to really work on my new music."

Nash plans to release a new album this year and recently put out a single called "Quiet" to give fans a sample of what's to come. She describes it as a break-up song set against the backdrop of the prairies.

"I like to make the joke that here in Saskatchewan you can watch your dog run away for three days or you can watch somebody leave you for three days. There's kind of an unforgiving horizon on the prairies. It's a really vulnerable song about literally watching someone leave you and I hope some people can find something in it to relate to."

She hopes that the song can be a comfort for people who may find themselves in a similar situation. She also has a music video for the song which she hopes to release in the coming weeks.

You can find Nash's single "Quiet" on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, or wherever you listen to music.
