Ryan Meili, leader of the NDP was in Moose Jaw Tuesday morning, questioning why the project bid for the new Saskpower Power Plant was given to two American companies.

The two companies are Kiewit Corporation from Nebraska, and Burns and McDonnel from Missouri.

Meili said the investment should have been made with local companies.

"We're here in Moose Jaw where we know the upcoming power plant is going to be built by a company from the United States. Once again the Saskatchewan Party is leaving Saskatchewan companies and workers out in the cold. When we're building our power plants, our roads, our hospitals, and our schools, we need to do so with our companies and our workers. That's how we build up Saskatchewan and that's how we put people first."

The blame Meili feels falls on the provincial government, who he says decided to pick the cheapest option instead of the best option.
