The provincial corporation has decided to make a cut to their long distance rates. Is it a Christmas present or an effort to gain customers as new telephone providers prepare to move into the province in 2007?

A crown corporation here in Saskatchewan is giving back to its customers.

SaskTel has announced a rate reduction in residential and business long distance rates according to spokesperson Michelle Englot. "Residential customers can save up to 7 dollars per month on an unlimited long distance calling plan while business customers will see savings of up to 1.5 cents per minute."

The rate reductions will take effect on January 25th, 2007. Oddly enough that's around the same time digital phone service will begin to grow in Saskatchewan thanks to Access Communications and Shaw.
