The Moose Jaw Midget AAA Warriors won 6-1 over the Notre Dame Hounds on home ice last night.

For the most part all season, things have been going according to plan. Warriors head coach Trevor Weisgerber said his team came out and established themselves well against a solid Hounds team.

"They came in at 9-4 and they've got a good hockey team over there," said Weisgerber. "Right from the beginning of the game, we came out hard and we took away time and space all night on them and the boys played hard."

The Warriors outshot the Hounds 41-28 in the game, including 29-16 in the first two periods as they established a 4-0 lead early in the third period. Weisgerber said his team wanted to get on the Hounds early.

"We just wanted to get lots of traffic in front of him (Hounds goalie Jared Picklyk) and get lots of shots on goal. We haven't seen them play yet this year, so we just wanted to worry about ourselves and make sure that was play a solid 60 minutes," he said.  "We were close to playing a full 60 here so it was good."

Caelan Fitzpatrick got a hat trick in the game for the Warriors, and Kirk Mullen and Connor McGrath picked up three assists each.

Recent Red Deer Rebels signee Chase Coward stopped 27 shots in the win.

Their next game is at home Sunday afternoon against the Saskatoon Contacts.
