The Moose Jaw Miller Express started off their two-game road trip on a losing note dropping a 9-3 decision on Wednesday night to the Weyburn Beavers.

Weyburn exploded for a six-run second inning. The scoring got started in the second inning as four straight walks brought in a run for the Beavers, with the bases loaded.

Millers' starter Jeremiyah Padilla’s night was done, leaving the bases loaded for reliever Cam O’Reilly, pitching one and a third innings, giving up two hits, and six walks.

The first batter O’Reilly faced, smashes a double to left field, scoring two runs in the process.

O’Reilly’s night didn’t get any better, as the next batter, Blaine French comes to the plate and hits a home run to clear the bases and give Weyburn the 6-0 lead.

The Millers’ would get one back in the fifth inning after a Zach Campbell walk scores Robert Gurney.

In the sixth inning, Weyburn would tack on three more runs, after a couple of singles and a wild pitch.

Moose Jaw didn’t give up as they were able to add two runs in the eighth inning as Parker Dorrance and Hudson Barrett crossed the plate for the Millers’, but that was as close as they would get losing 9-3.

Jeremiyah Padilla takes the loss allowing four runs on four hits while walking six batters.

Moose Jaw was only able to muster up five hits, with Campbell and Barrett going one-for-three at the plate.

The Millers’ will look to rebound on Thursday night in Regina, as they take on the Red Sox at Currie Field at 7:05 p.m.

Moose Jaw will be back at home for their “Canada Day Clash” and host the Weyburn Beavers. The Millers will be hosting a tailgate party before Friday’s game from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

With Swift Current losing 7-6 to the Red Sox on Wednesday night, Moose Jaw still holds a four-game lead over the 57s atop the Western Canadian Baseball League’s East Division.
