Fans at Ross Wells Park on Tuesday night were treated to an offensive show as a combined 23 runs were scored, as the Moose Jaw Miller Express fell just short to the Swift Current 57s 12-11.

Hudson Barrett stole the show for the Millers as he went three-for-four, driving in four runs, picking up his 15th home run of the season, while adding a double and triple.

With the loss, Moose Jaw’s losing streak extends to seven games, but they still hold a half-a-game lead over the Regina Red Sox atop the Western Canadian Baseball League’s East Division.

From the first inning on it was a see-saw battle between the two clubs. After each adding a run in the first inning, Swift Current exploded for a four-run inning in the second on four hits to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Moose Jaw would add one run in their half of the second inning after a Zach Campbell single drove in Parker Dorrance to cut the lead to 5-2.

In the third inning, Swift Current would tack on two more runs as Dylan Coty took Millers’ starter Cameron Dunn deep for a two-run home run to extend their lead to 7-2.

Moose Jaw would score three runs of their own in the bottom half of the third inning. With two on and two out, Hudson Barrett blasts a three-run homer to give Moose Jaw some life and cut the 57s lead to 7-4.

The fourth inning meant the end of the night for starter Cameron Dunn, as he pitched three innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, and giving up two walks in the loss, Jesse Scholtz would come into the game in relief.

Scholtz would only last one inning as the 57s exploded for five runs to extend their lead to 12-5. That was the end of Swift Current’s night in terms of scoring as Moose Jaw’s four relievers pitched five scoreless innings.

The comeback was on for the Millers as they chipped away at the 57s lead adding one run in the fourth inning after Brian Reyes hit a double to drive in Zach Campbell all the way from first base.

In the fifth inning, Moose would cut the lead to 12-8, as Hudson Barrett and Martin Rodriquez would drive in a run apiece.

Barrett would come in the clutch again in the sixth inning driving in Austin Gurney, and Moose Jaw was back in the ball game.

The seventh inning saw the Millers add one more run after Reyes hits his eighth double of the season to drive in Campbell.

Dawson Tweet would drive in Barrett in the eighth inning, and Moose Jaw now trails the 57s by one heading into the ninth inning.

Closer Tejean Smith would shut the door on Moose Jaw as he got the three outs he needed to allow Swift Current to walk out of Ross Wells Park with a 12-11 win.

Brian Reyes had a night at the plate batting four-for-six with three RBIs and a double.

Moose Jaw moves to 20-15 on the season and will look to end their losing streak Wednesday night as they travel south to Weyburn to take on Beavers.
