Looking for somewhere new to get your breakfast or morning cup-of-joe?

Well, Moose Jaw Families for Change have opened up their very own cafe. The soft opening took place all this week, and the grand opening will be held Monday.

Community Coordinator Katie Statler explains what made them decide to open the business.

"A common theme through the people that we support is that they wanted to find a job, they wanted to gain employment. Unfortunately, some folks have a tough time finding employment, so we thought 'How can we help create jobs for the people that we support?'. Here came the cafe. Our mission is to provide employment for the folks that we support as well as help them gain job-readiness skills, and build a resume essentially."

The cafe will be open 7:30-3, and Statler says they have variety when it comes to what food is all available.

"Right now what we are promoting is that we are offering a condensed menu of homestyle foods. So we will be serving breakfast options, lunch options, and then general snacks and goodies. So people can come in for any one of those 2 meals, and also purchase coffee, teas, or things like that."

"The Kinsmen Cafe is located at 431 4th Ave SW, right across the street from the Maple Leaf Bakery. It's definitely been a pretty long process, but sort of in a condensed period of time. We've had some great help from Jamie Logan and his team, the city, and JDE Designs".

The soft opening week was highlighted by a visit from Mayor Fraser Tolmie.
