After the price for ridership was decreased in July of this year, it looks like ridership has increased compared to last year.

After the change from regular price of $2.50, halfing it to $1.25 on July 1st, 2017, Moose Jaw Transit went over the numbers and it looks like ridership has increased.

"We did some analysis for the first month, so for July, it does look like ridership is up," said Mark Sture, Transit and Fleet Manager. "Looking at the numbers and it is early yet, numbers for July this year are about a thousand higher than they were for July 2016, so it's a good thing."

Even though cuts were made to the budget, and some things were made more expensive, it was decided that fare's for transit should change and Moose Jaw followed in the footsteps of Brandon, Manitoba, who also decreased fares in hope of increased revenue and ridership.

Moose Jaw Transit also recently announced free transit after the One Horse Town Concert on Sept. 15th, 2017
