Last month, an amended traffic bylaw was passed by the City Council, reducing the maximum speed allowed in school zones from 40 km/h to 30 km/h within Moose Jaw.

The amended bylaw will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week. With the reduced speed limit not reflected in playground zones without a school, which will remain at 40 km/h.

The signage update project is currently underway in Moose Jaw’s elementary and high schools, which is expected to be complete in two months.

A grace period in school zones that have newly installed 30 km/h signage is offered by the Moose Jaw Police Services to educate the public on the new school zone speed restrictions.

The previous speed limit of 40 km/h will continue to be enforced, and the grace period will be in effect until September 3, 2024.
