What lies beneath adorable?

That's the name of a book written by Ololade Kassim, currently a student of business management at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Moose Jaw.

Kassim is also a business process and project manager with a keen interest in change and continuous improvement. She previously worked as a document management and archiving analyst in the United Kingdom.

She holds a first degree in chemical engineering from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Nigeria as well as a Masters degree, with distinction, in Business Information Technology at Middlesex University in London.

She is also married and has three children. That’s where her book comes in.

Kassim, who is from Nigeria and arrived in Canada in August of this year, and her husband are raising 9-year-old twin boys and a 3-year-old son, or according to the author, ‘a set of twins and a singlet’. The book ‘What Lies Beneath Adorable?’ is a ‘Hands-on Experiential Guide and an Eye-opener on Raising Multiples’.

The book focuses on the newborn-to-three-years-of-age stage, and on how Kassim’s journey to becoming a twin mum started. The book also shares tips, lessons learned, and testimonials from other parents.

Kassim says she chose to write about the early years because she feels “it’s a very important aspect” and many folks “don’t have a clue about it," and because, she says, “I’ve gone through it.”

What lies beneath adorable?  According to Kassim, “When people see parents with twins, people go and say, ‘They’re so adorable!’ So, when I say, ‘What lies beneath adorable?', I mean everything you go through when you have adorable. It’s not about them just being adorable. There’s so much beneath adorable.”
