Back in June, Conexus Credit Union in Saskatchewan launched a Kindness Capital Fund, a $200,000 fund aimed at rewarding financial support to individuals or businesses who have shown great displays of kindness during the pandemic.

They had such a large response, over 200 nominations, that they decided they should expand the program, and add another element to it that provincial residents can vote on.

Chief Member Experience Officer, Mary Weimer.

"We decided to create the Peoples Choice Award. You're going to have the opportunity to select who you think should receive $5,000. Anyone in Saskatchewan, whether you're a Conexus member or not, can go on to KindnessCaptial.ca and vote for your choice."

One of the 8 finalists for the Peoples Choice Award is Moose Jaw's own Dalton Duzan, owner of Duzan Construction. Weimer explains what got Duzan his nomination.

"When he found out that the Moose Jaw Shrine Club wasn't going to be able to hold their annual children's festival, he decided to step up and help organize an interactive format. He also decided to do a gift card giveaway from local businesses for frontline workers."

The money being invested through the Kindness Capital Fund is from administration revenue generated from the Canada Emergency Business Account loan program.
