Planning committee presents their strategy to city council as they try to team up and fight drugs and related crimes in Moose Jaw.

The planning is done and now the hard work begins as the organized fight against drugs in Moose Jaw gets underway.

City Council was presented with the completed Moose Jaw and South Central Drug Strategy aimed at fighting drugs and related crime according to Sharon Erickson with the planning committee.

"The most common drugs in Saskatchewan are alcohol and marijuana however we have seen in Moose Jaw a significant increase in young people and not so young people using cocaine. I just recently retired form 5 Hills Health Region but I can tell you that our referrals in the last few months were 2 out of 3 for cocaine abuse."

The committee has requested that council work closely with the group to fight drugs in our city with a four-pillar approach: Prevention, Harm Reduction, Health Continuum, and Community Justice.
