Moose Jaw's PeeWee and Bantam squads both came close, but fell short of capturing provincial football titles Sunday.

The Kinsmen Minor PeeWee and Bantam Provincial Football Championships were held Sunday at Moose Jaw's Elks Field.

The PeeWee Elks lost 8-6 to the Saskatoon Falcons.  The Elks and the Falcons were scoreless after the first half, as both defenses performed well, making big tackles in key moments.

The Elks were on the board first, as Levis Paul ran into the end zone.  Moose Jaw was unable to convert the two-point convert, which turned out to be costly.  Saskatoon would score a major shortly after, and after converting two points took an 8-6 lead, which ended up being the final score.

Grayson Lochen led the Elks with 67 yards rushing, Levis Paul had 51 yards to go along with his touchdown, and Mathew Morris ran for 51 yards.  Saskatoon's Sean Majeran ran for 102 yards, while QB Nic Boyko had 63 yards and one touchdown.

The Bantam Colts also came close but lost 15-13 to Saskatoon.  Brandon Cannon scored both Moose Jaw majors, running one for 65 yards and another for 55 yards.  Moose Jaw scored a late touchdown on a double reverse with 17 seconds left in the game, but wasn't able to make good on the two-point conversion.
