The Moose Jaw Police Service is once again taking part in the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police (SACP) Gun Amnesty program.

The program provides a chance for people to surrender unwanted firearms, replica firearms, and/or ammunition.

The Police Service's objective is the lower the risk of violent offences involving firearms so they do not fall into the hands of criminals through break & entry or accidental loss.

As part of the initiative, police will not issue charges related to unauthorized possession of firearms while surrenders are taking place.

The Moose Jaw Police Service does not want people to transport firearms to the Police Station themselves. People are to call and arrange for the pickup of a firearm or related products. Police will go to the given address and retrieve the firearms themselves.

The surrender period will take place from now until April 9.

If you have unwanted firearms, replica firearms, and/or ammunition, call the Moose Jaw Police Service at (306) 694-7600 to arrange for pickup.
