Local officers have made one the biggest drug busts in Saskatchewan history after stopping a motor home on the Trans Canada Highway.

A traffic stop on the Trans Canada Highway just west of Caronport Wednesday afternoon has lead to the seizure of a large quantity of cocaine and marijuana.

Moose Jaw RCMP stopped a motor home for a traffic offense but officers noticed something odd. They called in a narcotics dog who found 45 kilograms of cocaine and 120 kilograms of marijuana, enough pot for about half a million joints.

41-year-old Gerard Stephane Turpin of Vancouver was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking. He has been remanded in custody for another court appearance on Monday.

The seizure is one of the largest made in Saskatchewan.
