As we approach the second Mother’s Day amid the pandemic, a local group wanted to do something special this year.

The Moose Jaw Shrine Club recently announced the inaugural MOMentum Cruise in honour of all mothers and women in the community.

“In the midst of all this isolation, in the midst of the times when people are maybe feeling a little alone, we want them to know we care for them, we’re thinking about them and it’s purely in honour of them,” explained shrine club member, Aaron Ruston.

The parade will start from the Town N’ Country Mall, at 1 pm on Sunday, May 9th.

Cars, motorcycles and trucks are all welcome, and current public health guidelines will be followed.

“We're going to have the Prowler, our Mellow Yellow 2000 Plymouth Prowler, which is this year's raffle car will be there, we’re going to have some tickets for it,” Ruston said.

“It will actually lead the cruise, driven by none-other than city leader, and mom herself, (Councillor) Heather Eby.”

Tickets will also be available for the club's ongoing 50/50 draw. Both prizes will be awarded on Sept 18, 2021.

The parade route will start down Main Street North and pass by 4 of the senior residences in town before returning to the mall parking lot.

The convoy of vehicles will pass Mulberry Estates, West Park Crossing Retirement Community, Rivera Retirement Living (The Bentley) and Providence Place.
