Moose Jaw resident Brandon Dowling has put his hat in the ring to become this year’s Orange County Choppers and Hope for the Warriors' Dream Chopper winner.

Dowling says that his love of motorcycles started when he was four years old, which drove him to sign-up for the contest.

“Just recently I started working and building my own bike,” says Dowling. “I saw that pop up on Facebook and figured what the heck why wouldn’t try and enter it.”

It’s a good thing that he signed up, as Dowling has advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition. He is currently third in his group with the Top 15 announcement coming on Mar. 30.

The winner of the contest will have the opportunity to design their dream motorcycle alongside Orange Country Choppers founder and legendary fabricator, Paul Teutul Sr.

“That would be awesome, he’s a pretty neat guy. I watched him on TV back in the day growing up on Orange County Choppers.”

If Dowling wins, he has a bike design in mind that he would want to build.

“I would have the biggest S&S Motor available; I think it’s a 143 and would be a speed rocket. I would have a two-up seat so I can have my wife on the back with me because she likes to ride with me.”

Motorcycle enthusiasts all over North America are competing for people's votes. Contestants are encouraged to post videos and decorate their social media, as they will have better chances of winning.

Currently, Dowling is working on a 1984 Yamaha Virago 1000.

Dowling’s favourite moment with a motorcycle is when he was 21 years old and bought his first bike.

“I went down to Bismark and bought it and it was a limited-edition crotch rocket. Just unloading it and having my very own sport bike.”
