Delivery companies using independent contractors, such as Skip the Dishes and Uber Eats, will now be eligible to obtain a permit to provide home delivery of alcohol products.

Those who make alcohol deliveries for delivery companies must be 19 or older and have a valid server intervention certification (Serve it Right). Deliveries can only be made to those 19 or older, and businesses such as liquor stores and liquor permitted restaurants or bars will have to ensure any company they contract to deliver has a valid home delivery permit.

"Takeout and delivery have become a popular option for many since the pandemic began," Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Jim Reiter said. "This change provides an additional opportunity for individuals and businesses who may be interested in providing home delivery of alcohol products."

To obtain a home delivery permit, applicants will need to complete the SLGA's application and approval process.
