Were we more cavalier with the rules of the road, or were police more diligent?

SGI has released numbers of their September traffic safety spotlight, and while the primary focus was on school zones, SGI's Kelly Brinkworth says overall there was a jump in traffic offences compared to September of 2014. Police issued more than 8000 traffic tickets issued during the blitz including over 6500 for speeding.

However, the number of people speeding in school zones was down.

"Last September we had the same focus for the month and there were 760 speeding tickets in school zones." said Brinkworth who noted that numbers were down for this past September at 640 tickets issued.

Brinkworth says the higher number of tickets overall could be a result of having more officers involved in the traffic blitz than the year before.
