Morrison, David James

May 5th, 1961 – September 8th, 2012

With sorrow for an incomparable loss and with gratitude for an exceptional life, we announce the passing of David Morrison on Saturday, September 8th, 2012. David will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Birdie and Jim; daughters Alyssa and Samantha; sisters Lori and Vanessa; nephews Toni and Brian; niece Callie; great nephew Jaxyn; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Bill and Betty Morrison and Seldon and Mabel McNutt. Dave was a resident of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and recently of Calgary, Alberta. He had travelled extensively after completing his Instrumentation at S.T.I. or SIAST as it is known now. His travels took him throughout Alberta, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the U.S. plus many other countries in his position in an Engineering Department. After Dave and his family moved back to Calgary, he opened a housing construction firm where his show home was featured in the magazine “Best Homes” as a designer pick. After he had been back in Canada a few years, he received recognition for a proposal he had put forth in Qatar. It was used throughout the country. Dave had a great sense of humour and could have been a standup comedian. He loved playing hockey and continued to play as an adult. Other loves were golf, cooking (Known for his beef jerky), hunting, reading and antiques. His family and friends meant a great deal to him, but his girls were his everything. He was generous with his love, time and all he owned. When asked “what was his goal in life”, he quickly replied “locate a plot of land and BBQ shrimp”. It was Dave’s request for cremation and to keep things simple. A graveside service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Those so wishing, may meet at the cemetery gates by 1:50 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made in Dave’s name to Alcoholic Anonymous or to Canadian Mental Health Assoc., 650 Coteau St. W., Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 5E6.
