While her primary business, Green Sister Gardens, is on hold for the year, Moose Jaw's Keri Fox has a new venture serving as the Manager at the Mosaic Community Food Farm.

Fox explains how she got involved.

"I put it out there that I was doing some consulting for people who wanted to grow their own gardens, so through that, I got connected with Todd Johnson (General Manager of the Wakamow Valley Authority) down here at Wakamow. We had a conversation about the Mosaic Community Food Farm and what that would look like and decided that we should start on this adventure together. It's been really great, I've had one of the most enjoyable summers yet."

While during any normal year there would be a number of volunteers helping out, this year there have only been 3 people tending to the entire garden, which is almost an acre in size.

27 different vegetables are grown at the garden, including zucchini, onion, lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, and they have picked over 86 pounds of beans so far.

Harvest started at the beginning of July, and while the bulkier vegetables like potatoes have yet to be picked, a total of 1,838 pounds of vegetables have been harvested and donated so far.

All produce picked gets delivered to Riverside Mission, the Moose Jaw Food Bank, Hunger in Moose Jaw, and the Transition House.

"I feel its really important that they are getting really nutrient-dense food and you know, vegetables are important in any diet so I feel like this is worth it, its a big benefit to them." says Fox, "We have three delivery days a week and we drop it off directly at Riverside Mission around lunchtime, so that way they have the freshest produce possible."

Fox says some extra help is on the way for the garden, as some staff from Wakamow Valley will be coming down to help with the harvest in the near future.
