Gary Woit of Mossbank found himself $1 million richer after the May 31 LOTTOMAX draw.

Woit bought his ticket the evening of the draw at the Safeway Fuel Station in Moose Jaw.

He scanned his ticket using a self-checker the following day to learn that he had matched all seven numbers to one of the MAXMILLIONS draws. His numbers were 14,18, 20, 28, 31, 32 and 37.

After scanning his ticket a few more times, Woit said he couldn’t believe it and had to take the ticket to the cashier to validate the ticket.

“I was kind of numb,” he said. “I was feeling pretty overwhelmed.”

Woit went home to share the news with his neighbours and the news spread quickly in the small town.

“Before I could finish telling my neighbour, she received a text from her daughter saying that I’d won,” Woit laughed. “The news spread around in three minutes!”

Woit is hoping to use the money to travel to watch some major league sporting events, but he’s still thinking about what to do with his windfall.
