Thursday afternoon was a celebration for Moose Jaw’s newest Canadians.
MP for Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan, Fraser Tolmie welcomed new citizens, led them in singing our national anthem, and handed out certificates to commemorate their citizenship.
Lina Rahman came from Afghanistan in 2016 and has been working as a care aide at Chateau St Michael in Moose Jaw for the last five years. She expressed her happiness at gaining citizenship and appreciation for Canada.
“Here there’s life, and everything is easy, and nice.”
Fraser Tolmie said today is about looking towards the future of the new citizens. “Today is a way of celebrating them, celebrating their efforts of becoming a Canadian citizen, and welcoming them into our great nation.”
